I have insurance but the doctor that I was referred to doesn’t accept the company that I go through. Any ballpark ideas of a cost of DALK? I know it’s my best option but am very worried about being able to afford it.

Please do you and your son a favor and seek out Dr. Holland of Cincinnati Eye Institute. Read the rest of my blog – Dr. Holland was my surgeon.

My name is Kathy and my son Sam is likely to move to Cincinnati in a month or two. He is 24 yrs old and was diagnosed with keratoconus a few years ago. This past year he had INTACS surgery performed on both eyes by a specialist in Nashville – we are from IL. One eye is more severe than the other. If you are not familiar with INTACS – they are like “an under wire bra for the weakened cornea.” Unfortunately, Sam is being fitted with RGP lenses by a local doctor currently and not finding success to date ( not many doctors in our area have had a lot of experience with the disease so…) . He will have to continue the process most likely in Cincinnati so I am helping him out in an effort to find a good doctor/ corneal specialist that can follow him through the process-any recommendations?
